History
Needs
Due to almost two decades of civil war and the AIDS pandemic, an estimated 2 million children in Uganda have been orphaned. Nearly 880,000 have been abandoned due to AIDS alone. The GreenHouse orphanage of Kampala, Uganda is doing its part by taking care of 64 children. The orphanage is under-funded and in need of a great deal of supplies. They are in need of a van for transport to school, funds for tuition ($2500), books, school materials, bedding, solar panels (they are completely without electricity, $4,375. The most pressing of their needs is a new home, which they have to raise $35,000. This amount of money covers the cost of purchasing property, constructing the home, and providing furnishings to accommodate the children and staff. Additionally, they are in need of a van for transport, money for clothes and supplies, teachers and assistance around the home. Through the Greenhouse Project, we can help.
What is the Greenhouse Project?
The Greenhouse Project exists to stimulate funds and awareness about the orphanage specifically, but also the condition of Uganda itself. Our main goal is to use creative means to achieve this. By utilizing art, we can produce and create change. On this site you can view the children’s art, videos and photographs. Through this, we hope you can gain insight and be motivated to help. You can help their immediate needs by clicking on the “donate” button. Your donations will go to their needs and things such as electronic equipment for the project, and art supplies for the children. If you’d like your donations to go to a specific area, attach a note or send us an email at donations@greenhouseproject.rar-rar.com
